New Life for Women Centre

Nueva Vida Para Mujeres (New Life for Women) is a drug rehabilitation centre for street women in Bogota, Colombia.The project with LAM is to establish a separate program for underage girls (12 -18 years) to get them off the streets, out of prostitution and into treatment.The big need is to provide education so these girls can graduate from high school and get a job.

The founder, Alba Nubia Duque Calvo was rescued from prostitution and drug addiction twenty years ago by missionaries who introduced her to Jesus.After Alba became a Christian and beat her addiction, she heard a call from God to establish the first drug rehab centre for women in Bogata.With God’s help, Alba established Nueva Vida Para Mujeres with a donated building, local church help and determination. An on-site mop-making workshop provides income for the program.The urgent need now, is to get under-aged girls out of the hands of pimps and into treatment at the centre.In the area around the centre, Alba has already identified 20 under-aged girls in need of help and has brought 4 of them into the centre.
