Domingo Bernal

Domingo Bernal

Guatemala is home for Domingo. By God’s grace, he had the opportunity to study in the United States graduating from Kentucky State University and Denver University in Applied Science and Computers, and in Water Management.

Returning home, Domingo spent more than 14 years working with non-profits and private organizations to support communities realize their potential and develop economically.

In 2014, Domingo and his family settled in Guelph, Ontario. He worked in various corporate roles, however, during the COVID-19 pandemic, he launched a landscaping business. What began as a response to economic uncertainty soon became a source of flexibility and purpose, allowing him to respond to needs around him. He is deeply engaged with the Latino community in Guelph and surrounding area, organizing gatherings that build fellowship through meals, soccer, activities, worship, Bible study, and creative outreach. These spaces foster relationships and open doors to share the gospel.

His heart, however, has never completely left Guatemala. In recent years, he has organized youth conferences on stewardship, coordinated emergency responses to natural disasters, and brought together more than 100 pastors for a national leadership conference.  Domingo believes God has given him the vision to develop a training center in Guatemala to equip youth through education, training in entrepreneurship and health, and by providing leadership opportunities. Within this vision he also hopes to form and train local leadership teams who would then run programs that empower women, and community leaders through entrepreneurship, cooperative development, and practical skills training. At the center of all his work is his faith—believing that no amount of resources can meet human needs as fully as Jesus can.
