Alan Holt’s Short-Term Team of Builders

By Allan Holt

The week has gone very well. It is perhaps the biggest LAM short-term team working on a construction project we have ever undertaken. We removed the original pressed fiber board roofing, then all the deteriorated roof trusses.  We had our design new roof trusses and then bought $6000 worth of steel, a welding machine and fabricated 14 trusses that are now all erected. Roof steel sheathing is on over kitchen and sheathing is here for dining area. There have been no safety events. The new electrics have started, panel is energized, 40% of conduit in place. Now, just wiring and connections to go.

Weather is hot, 30c+ in daytime and 22c at night. Pool is very nice at end of hot sweaty day.

They are feeding us extremely well. The devotions at end of day are going well with all participating. Team is an extremely good team, working together.

Prayer items include strength and endurance for the last week to finish all aspects of kitchen and dining roof and power upgrades. Also, continued safety, good health, and availability of supplies.

Thanks for your prayers.

Having now been back for 36+ hours, some concluding words. The 2024 trip to Centro Conferencial / Campamento Biblico on the Dominican Republic was an excellent trip.

While I knew the project involved trusses and roofing, I had doubts that we would be able to complete both the kitchen and dining area and we did and on a schedule that we did not really know or understand until the last Wednesday. The building now looks very impressive, new trusses and a roof that gleams, new lights. We also did several smaller but necessary and beneficial projects, fixed gate lock on pool entrance, fixed limit switch on entrance gate, ran the shower heater wire inside in the house, fabricated a bed frame.

I was impressed how well you all worked together to bring all this work to a successful conclusion. We can give God thanks for ensuring the team had the required skills, knowledge and energy to accomplish all this. Thank you so much for your efforts.
