The Great Mola: A Project of Faith and Art

In collaboration with Indigenous Memory-Panama, this collective initiative invites Gunadule women to engage in a contextualized biblical study and co-create a 2.4 by 6-meter mola. Handcrafted by Gunadule women, the mola is a vibrant expression of their rich textile tradition. Inspired by the way God communicates with peoples through the knowledge they have built, this project recognizes the love and importance that God assigns to each culture and its heritage.

The process unfolds in five intentional phases: community organization, biblical workshops, prayer and discipleship moments, artistic creation, cultural reflection, and a public exhibition. Throughout this journey, scriptures, ancestral tradition, and spiritual renewal intertwine harmoniously, forming a shared expression of faith, identity, and cultural resilience.

The finished mola will be publicly displayed, accompanied by written and audiovisual documentation that narrates its story and honors the voices behind it. Supporting this project is vital—resources are needed to provide materials, equipment, printing, promotion, facilitator support, artisanal offerings, meals, transportation, and more. This support ensures that this artistic expression tells God's story through the hands of Gunadule women, conveying a message of hope, identity, and faith to the world.
