On September 19, Mexico was hit with a powerful 7.1 earthquake.
In the aftermath, many homes and apartment buildings collapsed in Mexico City, streets have been closed off due to demolitions and danger zones, and people have had to leave their homes because of structural damage and potential collapse. Over 200 people lost their lives in the few minutes the earthquake hit, and hundreds more lost their homes in the weeks to follow.
One of the positive aftereffects of the earthquakes is that the city and many churches and organizations have come together to respond to the needs through rescue, relief and re-building efforts. Nations have come to Mexico’s aid to help provide rescue support, temporary housing, and reconstruction funding. Churches are sending physical and spiritual help to those affected by the earthquakes, and LAM has a Mexico Relief Fund to help those in need from the earthquakes.
Please help us in Mexico with the massive relief and reconstruction efforts!
