Rebeca and Joshua Sissons

Portugal

Joshua and Rebeca Sissons, a young Luso-Canadian couple, have a desire to equip and support the Church of Christ through an integration of faith and vocation: they believe in common grace for the common good! Rebeca was born and raised in Portugal and moved to Canada in 2012. After a few years of theological studies in Toronto, she enrolled at Regent College for her Masters and that is where she met her husband Josh, a true West Coast Canuck, a connector and youth pastor at heart.

After pondering where God was leading them, Rebeca has felt a call to give back to her home country in the area of theological education by co-leading an online theological education platform, created and hosted by nationals, where she will be giving administrative support, contributing to its strategic planning and creating and teaching courses. She is excited to participate in the equipping of lay people in Portugal for the work God has called them to do in the marketplace but also in their churches. The work will be done remotely from Victoria, with occasional trips to Portugal for team support.

For Josh, the next season of life involves his work as a Special Needs Education Assistant in Victoria, BC. God has given Josh a heart of compassion for those on the margins. Josh is also excited for opportunities to serve youth on university campuses and on First Nations Reserves, as they transition to live on the island after three years of grad work in Vancouver.
