Marcelo and Giulliana Viana (Sofia and Caio)

Winnipeg, Canada

Marcelo and Giulliana Viana are a dynamic, young Brazilian couple who are excited about God’s call to minister to the Brazilian, and other immigrant communities in Winnipeg, Manitoba. They have two children, Sofia and Caio.

Marcelo has been a Presbyterian minister since 2007. In 2010, the Vianas became church-planting missionaries in Brazil. During this time they also worked with the National Mission Board of the Presbyterian Church of Brazil. More recently, Marcelo was serving as the Minister of Evangelism in church planting initiatives in deprived communities in Recife, in the Northeast of Brazil.

Giulliana is an IT Consultant and University Lecturer; she sees her work in the secular world as an opportunity to witness for Christ. During her youth, Giulliana was also involved in outreach to prostitutes (women and transvestites), homosexuals, drug addicts and drug dealers. When she married Marcelo she combined her secular job with missionary work in Brazil.

Marcelo and Giulliana are approved by their home church, the Presbyterian Church of Brazil, to work with the Wesleyan Church of Canada. So, they will be working under Rev. Justin Bradbury, from New Horizons Church Winnipeg – a Wesleyan ministry focused on reaching immigrants in Canada.

The Vianas ministering in this cross-cultural church planting ministry in Winnipeg represents a new frontier for LAM as it seeks to work alongside the Latin American Church in its endeavour to advance the Kingdom of God beyond Latin America!
