Latin Link Conference – Guatemala
We are very thankful for Latin Link, our mission partner in the UK. This year, from February 1-7, 2018, we had the privilege of joining them for their mission conference (Latin Link Assembly) in Guatemala.
It was a time of renewal, of worship, prayer and much fellowship. There were 146 participants in the Assembly; 20 of those were from the LAM family. The missionaries brought their joys, sorrows, and stories of God’s amazing faithfulness to this conference.
We all felt the presence of God and were enriched hearing about the mission’s work in and out of Latin America; its challenges and opportunities. Some of the themes covered were: suffering in the context of missions, issues of justice, member care, millennials, migration and team work.
Migration can be motivated by various factors, like for example, socioeconomic reasons, political instability and violence, family reunion, or study. Depending on the country of origin, one in three migrants (e.g. Brazil, Guatemala) is, possibly, a believer. The migration of Latin American Christians creates new agendas for our churches and mission agencies in Latin America, Europe and North America: church planting, resourcing, training and empowering for missions.
This raises the question of global partnership in missions: how do we cooperate, support each other, and share resources to see the Kingdom of God advancing within and from Latin America? If you want to explore any of these possibilities, click here to connect with us.
